Dr. Emily Germain

DPT, GCS

I was born and raised in the Hudson Valley of New York State. I attended Ithaca College, which gave me the opportunity to live throughout New York State and land in NYC upon graduation. While in grad school I took up running and have completed a handful of half marathons. When the pandemic hit, myself and two dogs Rox and Brody, moved to the Scranton area- we have all been enjoying the extra space. I have worked in sports-based clinics with multidisciplinary approaches and Eastern and Western medicine-focused practitioners. Before joining Impact I had the opportunity to treat patients in their homes. I am a board-certified Geriatric Specialist from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialities.

I feel that laughing throughout your day is important- I would rather be crying from laughter than the alternative.

“Who decides, who decides?”- Shoshana Zuboff

I am a Physical Therapist at Impact specializing in geriatric care.

I enjoy helping any patient overcome any issue that is limiting them from doing what brings them meaning.

Conditions I enjoy treating the most are balance and walking deficits, I get excited and inspired by patients’ hard work paying off and seeing them get around the community better.

I most enjoy the environment at Impact, from Annie’s greetings and jokes to John’s strive to help all of our patients achieve their goals and of course when Charlie decides to grace us with her presence.

What’s Dr. Emily Reading, Listening To, or Watching?

Cringy reality TV and crime documentaries and series. In more recent years I have enjoyed reading nonfiction books.

When not working I am spending time with my dogs catching up on my shows and going to comedy shows or concerts of my favorite bands.

John and Emily have played a major role in my recovery. I had rotating therapy sessions with both during my three-month plus phase of treatments. They were always kind, understanding, and most supportive. Thanks to you both I am walking my former pace with no problems and looking forward to an active hiking season with my groups at Nescopeck/Hickory Run State Parks. Big change from the early days of wearing a full leg brace. I continue my daily home exercises that you have taught me. Also miss our wonderful, fun discussions. You are the best

“This is my second “tour” at Impact Physio. In February 2022 I had a right knee replacement I had many complications and swore I would never get the other one done well this past December I had my left knee replaced thanks to John and Emily. I was unable to take any pain medication and Emily worked tirelessly to get me to the point that I was doing all my activities pain-free I felt so good I went back for a second knee. I am now in therapy again but I know this time around how good I will feel at the end. Emily is very good at her job. She pushes me and challenges me. She mixes up my routines and helps me alleviate my pain. The place is very clean. Everyone there is very nice and accommodating I would highly recommend Impact Physio to anyone needing PT”

“I came to Impact Physio with a few problems that were causing a great deal of pain and discomfort. It seemed as though my world was getting smaller. After working with Emily and John, I improved greatly. I can do the things I love to do again. I’m so grateful for their expertise and patience”
